For the Meatballs:
  • 1 lb • ground beef
  • 1 lb • ground pork
  • 1/2 cup • breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup • grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves • garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup • chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large • egg
  • • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp • olive oil
  • 1 small • onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves • garlic, minced
  • 1 can • crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
  • 1 can • tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 tsp • dried oregano
  • 1 tsp • dried basil
  • • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Pasta:
  • 12 oz • spaghetti
Instructions
  1. Make the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.
  4. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta.
  5. Serve: Serve the spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
