Ingredients
  • 2 cups • whole wheat flour (240g)
  • 1 cup • all-purpose flour (120g)
  • 1/2 cup • rolled oats (50g)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons • baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon • salt
  • 2 tablespoons • brown sugar (25g)
  • 2 tablespoons • butter, cold and cut into small pieces (30g)
  • 1 3/4 cups • buttermilk (420ml)
Instructions
  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, rolled oats, baking soda, salt, and brown sugar.
  3. 3. Add the cold butter pieces and rub them into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. 4. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  5. 5. Transfer the dough to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. 6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is firm and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  7. 7. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
