Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs • chicken thighs, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup • plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp • lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp • ground turmeric
  • 2 tbsp • garam masala
  • 2 tbsp • ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup • butter
  • 1 • onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves • garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp • fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp • ground coriander
  • 1 tsp • ground paprika
  • 1/2 tsp • cayenne pepper
  • 1 can • tomato sauce (14 oz)
  • 1 cup • heavy cream
  • • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, turmeric, garam masala, and cumin. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger, and cook until the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the coriander, paprika, and cayenne pepper, and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce and heavy cream, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper. Garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot with naan or rice.
