What is an Indiana Alcohol Server Permit?
The Indiana Alcohol Server Permit, also known as the Bartending License Indiana, is a certification required for individuals involved in serving or handling alcoholic beverages in licensed establishments within the state of Indiana. It is issued by the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission (ATC) and is valid for a period of three years.
The purpose of the Indiana Alcohol Server Permit is to ensure that individuals serving alcohol are knowledgeable about responsible alcohol service practices, alcohol laws and regulations, identification verification, and intervention techniques. By obtaining the permit, individuals demonstrate their commitment to upholding legal requirements and promoting safe alcohol service.
To obtain an Indiana Alcohol Server Permit, individuals are typically required to complete an approved alcohol server training course. These courses cover the necessary topics and provide the required knowledge and skills related to responsible alcohol service. Once the training course is successfully completed, a certificate or proof of completion is obtained, which is then submitted to the ATC along with the permit application.
The Indiana State Excise Police requires an employee to be 21 years of age to sell and serve alcoholic beverages or at least 19 years of age to “ring-up” the sale of alcohol products at a convenience or grocery store under the supervision of another employee on premise who is of 21 years of age. It is a criminal offense to sell and serve intoxicated person alcohol and as a result, the provider may be held liable for injuries or death, even to the third party.
The on-premises training is for employees selling and serving alcoholic beverages in Restaurants, Bars, Clubs, Hotels, Breweries, and Events. The off-premises course is suitable for individuals employed at Gas Stations, Convenience Stores, Grocery Stores, and Liquor Shops. Our self-paced course takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Certification of completion is available to print at the end of your course!
